Fri, September 22, 2006 - 5:55 PMkelly, i'm not real sure why you would want to emulate the 'stars'. if they had such a great grasp of reality, they would not be good at making the unreal seem real,ie-acting.

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Sat, September 23, 2006 - 7:12 AMkelly, great idea! there are some good resource links on old topic posts in this tribe. in going back and reading old posts, you will come across people who have been involved in scientology and have real life experience with it. i have found that, and some of the links to articles, testimonies, etc. very helpful and interesting. good luck to you. remember, you make your own decisions, you form your own destiny. be strong, s -

Sat, October 21, 2006 - 12:12 AMIts a F*cking religion right?! as with all religions.....ummmm lets see, they give you something to believe in, when my family member dies i look towards my faith for answer. whatever works for whoever needs it. If it helps you get through life then use it.

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Mon, October 23, 2006 - 7:43 AMsorry ... i have to disagree ... vehemently.
religion .. from re-ligio (latin ... to link)
as in, linking back to the source.
religion is the connection of the individual back to it's root.
scientology is a series of exercises that isolate and alienate the individual from it's friends, then family, then self, in order to create an easily-controlled drone.
even organized religion usually has the decency to include friends and family.
scientology... that's gangsta talk for brainwashing... riiiiight?
ps... what's BL? -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Thu, October 26, 2006 - 12:51 AMHumans as with all animals are born into the the world without a physical conection to other conscoius beings.
Linking a person "back to the source" would involve linking it with its inner self (ya know...god,the source of creation and the inhereted consciousness) and having that individual become whole within itself.
Isolating an individual from others is what most religions do? have you ever seen what happens when you mix a catholic and a muslim?
what if his freinds and family are scientologists?
most people are drones anyway
-
-
Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Thu, October 26, 2006 - 8:01 AM<<what happens when you mix a catholic and a muslim?>>
wait ... i think i know this one... is it... a fundamentalist who won't think for themselves?
<<what if his freinds and family are scientologists?>>
people in scientology (maybe you missed this point of my post) are isolated from everyone ... themselves included. if you're not connected to the root (yes, the Self) then you won't be able to connect to anyone else.
<<most people are drones anyway>>
so if you're cool with that, there's nothing to worry about. -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Thu, October 26, 2006 - 2:19 PMi belong to a peace group that has catholics, muslims and even (shudder) baptists. we all seem to get along ok. so is that what happens? is that what you were thinking of, that everybody does ok? -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Fri, October 27, 2006 - 6:57 AMreally, i don't dislike baptsts. i pretty much like everybody that doesn't knock on my door when i'm sleeping. so that means all politicians and some church groups are in trouble.
my particular beef with scientology, other than that it is pure evil, is that i worked in hospice for thirteen years and my patients would get these mailings from scientolgy about how they could stop treatment (even for pain and palitive) and scientology would clear them. all they had to do was hand over all their money and their soul and they could live forever. -
-
Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Fri, October 27, 2006 - 7:05 AMno.. i don't dislike people, either. well, ok .. some people, but not on principle.
my problem with organized religion is that it acts as a substitute for thought. that, to me, is scarier than a dirty bomb.
as for scientology (the most unscientific and unstudied claptrap i've ever seen), how doesn't the FDA step in? they are claiming to heal people, right?
they're not tax-exempt, are they?

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Tue, November 21, 2006 - 5:50 PMin one word?
Dangerous
many people write scientologists off as a bunch of crazy people - but partly due to the strong following of celebrities and the rich - they have a huge amount of power. It's ok if this power is used well, but it isn't always.
A few years before he started scientology Hubbard was quoted as saying the best way to get rich would be to start a religion. His background is shady -he claimed to be many things he was not. He also condoned ex-comunicating and slandering family and friends of followers if they questioned scientology too much. I've also read in some online anti-scientology websites scientologists believe that if a woman is hit by her spouse, she most likely did something to deserve it. Not sure of the truth in this as it was a biased site but there is much, much more that concerns me...
I suggest people research thoroughly -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Sat, December 30, 2006 - 5:00 PMWell, they dropped crystal meth use by 50% I think it was the cdc mentioned in Hawaii's capital through drug rehab programs. Boy now that sounds dangerous. Well, to a drug dealer I suppose it would.
Hubbard was rich from his pulp fiction days, had no need of extra cash. Mormans & Catholics have gazillions more cash anyway. -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Sun, February 11, 2007 - 6:18 AMthat's ok lisa. i don't think we all need to agree on anything except that scientology sucks. if people have their own opinions on other religious practices, you and i do not have to buy into them. we can be secure in our own beliefs to let others have their say when they are not. -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Tue, March 27, 2007 - 9:21 AMI have only had three conversations with 3 different scientologists...one was a neighbor of a friend of mine who kept coming over to "convert" his wife while he was not around. I actually threw him bodily out of my friend's house and told him not to come back. The other two were just obnoxious as hell.
That is my word: OBNOXIOUS
<<Have a look at AMORC.ORG- Similar but not so Persistent.>>
Waldo, I think you are all wet here....I happen to know a tot of AMORC people myself. They are harmless, perhaps even very beneficial by comparison, and not a cult. They are an ancient philosophical and mystical group. They do not proselytize at all...as tthey believe in the law of attraction (whoever needs them will find them). Very nice bunch of folks, actually. -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Wed, March 28, 2007 - 9:42 PMYou guys should look up an e-book I found called: 'Self-Clearing' by someone under the pseudonym: "The Pilot".
I can't immediately recall where I found it, but I highly recommend that everyone reads it!
It's simply a book full of techniques to speed up thought processes... it worked for me.
I also recommend reading any and all Dianetics/Scientology books you can find. Take from them what you find useful, and ignore the dogmatic bullshit.... in fact, I recommend that you view daily life the same way. Use what works for you...
I don't however, suggest that ANYONE goes to a church of Scientology for "clearing"! Learn to help yourself! Don't be a robot!!!!!
My one word: Helpful -

Re: scientology ........in one word???????
Sat, March 31, 2007 - 4:36 AMIt's not "dissonance at all! Not in the least!
I'm not here to debate the validity of Hubbard's works at all, I'm simply trying to convey the possibility that it's worth everyone's time to look into this thing that people call "Scientology" nowadays. I believe that it's worth your study time, thats all.
I realize that this group is against Scientology - and I am too! - but I also see the value in the best self-help techs ever thought up.
I would also recommend "Liber Null & Psychonaut" by: Peter J. Carroll, to anyone who would like to better understand brain processes.
...no dissonance here... -

<<I'm not here to debate the validity of Hubbard's works at all>>
<<I'm simply trying to convey the possibility that it's worth everyone's time to look into this thing that people call "Scientology">>
see... this is an ANTIscientology tribe. but you're preaching his work. you state that you're not here to debate the validity... because you already accept their teachings.
it's a total waste of time. the only thing one can gain from reading scientology books is cognitive dissonance. though there's plenty to lose.
Cognitive dissonance is a psychological term which describes the uncomfortable tension that comes from holding two conflicting thoughts at the same time. More precisely, it is the perception of incompatibility between two cognitions, where "cognition" is defi
